I am going to attempt to use my stunning football knowledge () to make predictions on every single game from the Premier League and Football League taking place this weekend. I am doing this as an experiment more than anything because I looooooove football betting.
Premier League
Bolton vs Aston Villa - You have to go back to 2002 to find the last time Bolton beat Villa at tthe Reebok Stadium. They have won only 1 of their last 12 against Villa. In Bolton's favour, they have won 4 of their last 5 at home, but have won only 1 of their last 6 home or away. It is worse for Villa. You have to go back to February 7th to find their last win. But they still do boast one of the best away records in the league and were very unfortunate to lose at Manchester United recently. Both teams don't have too many injury worries with a few doubts over both Ricardo Gardner (Bolton) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (Villa). Villa haven't drawn an away match in the league this season - winning 10 and losing 6 and Bolton have drawn only two of 14 at home. Looking at those stats, a draw seems unlikely.
Suggestion - Bolton should be up for this. Villa have looked very dodgy at the back recently, leaking 12 in their last 4 games. Bolton can take advantage of them and sneak it by the odd goal, maybe 2-1.
Everton vs Manchester City - This one looks like an open and shut case. The dismal away version of Manchester City look a completely different team to the home version. One away league win all season long in England. They couldn't even win at Brighton in the League Cup. Plus, only one league goal in their last 6 away games and even that was an own goal. Everton, on the other hand, go from strength to strength. They have conceded only 2 goals in their last 8 home matches and have won 6 of their last 7 at home. They also come into this off the back of a decent 0-0 draw at Chelsea and of course their FA Cup semi final penalty victory over Man Utd. Jo won't be taking part for Everton, as he's unable to face Man City as part of the loan agreement, but decent cover should be provided in the form of Louis Saha. And if the stats aren't bad enough for City, they are without Craig Bellamy, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Nigel de Jong and Paula Zabaleta.
Suggestion - It's simple. City can't score away, Everton don't concede many at home. Not even Robinho at the very peak of his form could help them out of this pickle. You have to go back to 1992 to find the las time Man City won at Goodison Park and to be honest, it looks like more away day blues for the Blues. 3-0.
Fulham vs Stoke City - God bless Stoke City. They are a fascinating team to watch and they play football how it should be played. They take no shit and have really turned the Britannia Stadium into a fortress. Their away form remains the big issue, but they did pick up their first away win of the season last time around, against the woeful West Brom. Stoke have only lost 1 of their last 8 and are definitely much better than they were a few months ago on their travels. Fulham had turned Craven Cottage into a bit of a fortress of their own. But recently things have come a bit unglued with 3 defeats in their last 4 at home, but 2 away wins (something they looked completely incapable of earlier in the season) have made up for the poor home performances. Saying that, they were absolutely immense when beating Man Utd 2-0 recently and were unfortunate to lose extremely late on against Liverpool. If only Stoke could carry the same attitude into their away games... It's a shame they struggle to do so. Ricardo Fuller is a particularly underrated striker. His work rate is terrific and he holds and controls the ball better than nearly every front man I can think of. James Beattie will miss this game for Stoke as he is injured.
Suggestion - Difficult to oppose Fulham in this one. I feel Stoke will struggle to score, but they will make it as tight as possible. It won't be pretty, nor entertaining, but expect Fulham to scrape it 1-0.
More later...
Oh by the way, feel free to disagree too
